Allergy GURU

A new service to help manage Food Allergies more easily.

Allergy Guru was the design outcome for my 4th year honours project.

The research question for this project was:

"How might a human centred design approach be used to enable families to self-manage their food allergies more easily?"

Through various research methods the final outcome was to create a service, through which food brands can sign up to certify that their allergen information is true and correct. Their food products then have the Allergy Guru label applied to them so users know which foods are honest and reliable. Users can download the Allergy Guru app and scan the barcodes of the labelled food products to get quick, personalised allergen information.

The application also enables users to create profiles for the whole family to easily manage everyones allergens at once. Profiles can be sent to other carers or guardians, e.g. teachers, of the allergy sufferer to allow for peace of mind when in various peoples care or company.
